MINBARI RINGS:
Minbari rings are used for many purposes. In essence they are remote controls for Minbari technology that includes artificial gravity, environmental controls, ships, etc. all controlled though a cybernetic implant in the ring finger, which connects to the individual’s nervous system.

The Minbari are a deeply religious people, who hail from a planet called “Minbar”. They are humanoid in appearance, roughly 1.5/2.0 meters in height, and can be easily distinguished by a large ex-skeletal bone structure protruding around their head, and running along their spinal column. Minbari have no body hair what so ever, pinkish skin color. One odd characteristic of Minbari physiology, is that the ingestion of alcohol sends Minbari into a berserker, homicidal rage.

Minbari society is broken up into three distinct casts, “Worker, Warrior, Religious”, and these three casts are lead by the “Gray Council”. The “Gray Council” is comprised of three representatives of each cast. The “Worker Cast” is responsible for building, colonizing, science, and maintaining the Minbari way of life. The Warrior cast’s sole purpose is the protection of the Minbari Federation, and the Minbari people. The Religious cast prays, teaches, and maintains the spiritual balance of Minbari culture. People are born into a given cast, but are free to choose any path they wish, Worker, Warrior, or Religious. The “Minbari” have been Jump-Gate capable for the past 1,000+ years. They have a powerful military, artificial gravity, and are beginning to develop bio-technology. Earth’s first contact with the Minbari resulted in a major war, when an Earth Alliance fleet fired on a group of Minbari ship. The Minbari had approached the an Earth Alliance Heavy Cruiser with it's gun ports open. The captain of the Earth ship, fearing the Minbari meant to attack them, ordered his men to open fire. The captain of the Earth ship did not know that, in Minbari culture, it was a sign of honor to approach a ship with gun ports open. In this battle Dukatt, the Minbari’s religious leader and head of the Gray Council, was killed.

The war between the Earth Alliance and the Minbari Federation, lasted for approximately three years. The Minbari fought humanity all the way back to earth, and was poised to destroy the planet. Then, without warning the Minbari surrendered. It was latter discovered that the Minbari only surrendered, after they had captured Jeffrey Sinclair and discovered that Humans and Minbari shared the same souls. After the war, the Minbari helped fund the Babylon 5 station and strive to bring Human and Minbari culture closer together.
